About Us

We are a cosy 17th Century village pub in Abbots Leigh. Just over the suspension bridge, we are only 2 miles from Clifton Village, serving great food and drink in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

We have a beautiful sun trap of a garden and cosy wood burners for those winter months

Our food is freshly prepared and locally sourced. Oh, and yes, we are dog lovers!

Our Attractions

National Trust - Leigh Woods

A very popular wood on the outskirts of Bristol consisting of mixed broadleaves and open coppice areas The variety of woods, glades and wide sunny paths encourage a richness of wildlife and special plants including Bristol rock cress and Bristol onion. There are spectacular views over the Avon gorge. Accessed via an avenue of copper beech trees, planted to commemorate the Queen's Coronation in 1953, the medium sized car park is the ideal place for starting off on a walk in these woods.

The Monarch's Way

Based on the lengthy route taken by King Charles II during his escape after defeat by Cromwell in the final battle of the Civil Wars at Worcester in 1651, when for six weeks the young royal was hotly pursued by Parliamentary troops. Charles escape from captivity, which included excursions into many counties of the Midlands and Southern England took him from Worcester to Shoreham-on-Sea.

Abbots Pools

A large pond, which is the central feature of the woodland, was originally developed for the medieval practice of farming for fish. Surrounding the pool is idyllic mature woodland containing some massive oak and beech trees. An abundance of wildlife can be found here including deer, bats and birds.
